Rider is a cross-platform IDE for .NET developers based on the IntelliJ framework and ReSharper.
Rider lets you develop apps for the .NET Framework, .NET Core, and Mono, including .NET services and libraries, Unity games, Xamarin cross-platform mobile apps, ASP.NET web apps, and ASP.NET Core web apps.
It provides extensive code editing and analysis capabilities for languages used in .NET development such as C#, VB.NET, F#, supports ASP.NET Razor syntax, JavaScript, TypeScript, XAML, XML, HTML, CSS, SCSS, JSON and SQL.
Rider 2021.3 adds support for the .NET 6 SDK, including the Hot Reload feature. We also added a new Problems tab, completely redesigned the main toolbar, and updated the Debug tab. Features Rider
Code editing
The smart Rider editor provides various types of autocompletion and templates, automatically inserts parentheses and imports missing namespaces. Tooltips and icons in the fields help you easily navigate through the inheritance hierarchy, context actions make development convenient and efficient.
Refactorings
Rider borrows over 60 refactorings from ReSharper and provides over 450 context actions for a variety of purposes. Refactorings allow you to easily rename and extract methods, interfaces, and classes, move and copy types, use alternate syntax, and perform other transformations.
Unit test runner
Rider helps you run and debug NUnit, xUnit.net, and MSTest unit tests. ReSharper helps you explore tests, group them by session, view test results, and navigate to source code from a stack trace.
Debugger and other tools
The built-in debugger for applications on the .NET Framework, Mono and .NET Core supports step-by-step execution, allows you to evaluate expressions on the fly, run the program from the currently executing line to the line with the cursor, monitor and change the values of variables. In addition, Rider includes a NuGet browser, allows you to view stack traces, and supports various version control systems and databases.
Working with databases and SQL
You can work with SQL and databases directly from the IDE. Rider helps you connect to databases, edit schemas and tables, run queries, and analyze schemas using UML diagrams.
Navigation and search
You can instantly navigate to any file, type, or member in your codebase, and quickly find the settings and IDE actions you need. From any symbol in the code, you can instantly jump to base and derived symbols, implementations and overrides, and places of use.
Support for front-end technologies
Rider supports JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and Sass. Specifically for these technologies, the IDE includes refactoring, debugging, and unit testing capabilities from WebStorm.
Extensions
Rider supports a large set of plugins developed for ReSharper and the IntelliJ platform. Built-in plugins provide support for F#, Unity, and version control systems. You can additionally connect extensions for working with Markdown, .gitignore files and Python scripts.
