What’s new
The June 2022 (22.5) release of Premiere Pro introduces new Essentials and Vertical Video workspaces, proxy workflow improvements, the ability to add gradients to strokes and shadows for titles and graphics, support for the RED V-RAPTOR camera, and various performance improvements.
New Essentials Workspace
The new Essentials workspace offers a clean and simple layout and presents panels in a logical workflow from left to right with a wide timeline at the bottom of the screen.
New vertical video workspace
The new Vertical Video workspace offers a clean and simple layout optimized for vertical content. Social media creators working in this format will find a software monitor to the right of this workspace configured to view 9:16 vertical video.
Proxy workflow improvements
Visual icons in the timeline and project panel now make it clear when you are viewing proxies or originals. During proxy creation, you have the option to add a watermark so that you can easily identify your proxy files, and the default codec for creating proxy files has been set to ProRes.
Gradients for Strokes and Shadows
Add visual impact to characters and graphics by adding gradients to strokes and shadows.
Improved H264/HEVC encoding on Apple M1 systems.

HDR proxy
Work faster with HDR content by creating HDR proxies of your media. Automatically create smaller, medium and high resolution copies of files in the correct color space. HDR proxies visually match the originals and provide improved editing performance.
To create a proxy in Premiere Pro, right-click the media file in the Project panel and choose Proxy > Create Proxy. Then select the desired format. Adobe Media Encoder creates proxies in the background so you can continue editing. When your proxies are ready, Premiere Pro will automatically replace them for better editing performance. You can easily switch between proxy files and source files, for example, to check quality, crop high-resolution video, or color correct.
